4 Quadrants Changed My Business

Are you the bottleneck in your business?

Are you struggling to find the time to get it all done?

Believe it or not, these four quadrants in the video below transformed my business.

When I was first starting out in business, my daily routine was chaotic. Like most business owners, I’d wake up every day, put my firefighter’s hat on, and hope for the best.

I worked hard (I bet you do too) but I wasn’t working smart. At the end of the day, I hadn’t accomplished the tasks that moved my business forward. All I’d done was sustain it.

Like any hungry business owner that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted (and needed) to grow. So, I set out to find processes, coaching, training, you name it to improve my time management … Tools and techniques simple enough for me to understand and execute fast.

It was The Eisenhower Box that was a turning point for me and my business. It helped me switch my mindset from drowning in overload to directing all tasks through the 4 quadrants. Now I want to share it, so it can work its magic on you, too.

You see all tasks fall into one of four quadrants:

Quadrant #1: Top left – Urgent/Important

These are the things that are crisis related. Unavoidable and require ‘drop everything’ and fix it. This is the DO IT NOW quadrant

Quadrant #2: Top right – Not Urgent/Important

These are strategy items; business growth items and the aim of any leader is to spend more time here. This is the DECIDE WHEN TO DO IT quadrant

Quadrant #3: Bottom left – Urgent/Not Important

These things are interruptions, usually other requests or demands of you. This is the DELEGATE quadrant

Quadrant #4: Bottom right – Not Urgent/Not Important

These things are an escape. They are needed for down time however can be serious time wasters. This is the DELETE quadrant

To build my business at a strategic level I needed to focus my time and energy in one place – Quadrant #2 and you will need to focus there too, if you plan to build a strong long-term business.

“What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important” ~ Dwight Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States ~

Now if you are serious about getting the most out of your workday and spending more time in Quadrant #2. The first step is to identify where you are currently spending your time. Why not download The Workday Audit assess where your work time really goes. I think you will be surprised by the result.

Now the Eisenhower Box is just one of the time management processes I use. Imagine working together to design a system that frees you from Quadrants 1, 3, and 4 forever.

Imagine only doing the things you love and are great at.

The things that make the biggest impact on your clients, your life, and your business.

Over 30 years my team and I have helped thousands of business owners like you to stop the struggle and hustle.

We are experts at keeping you in Quadrant #2.
